LA VITA È BELLA IN MATAKANA
Matavino is a small vineyard owned and planted by Jim Hight, nestled on gentle north-facing slopes in the famous Matakana Wine region. Our vision is to grow a variety of wines to match local food and produce. This includes some red italian grape varieties such as Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo as well as the French varieties of Viognier and Chardonnay. The vines are hand-nurtured by family and friends using sustainable practices.
Matavino vineyard was initially planted in September 2006 and the first wines went on sale in October 2010.
Matavino wines are best matched with food but also taste great out on the deck or around the BBQ with friends and family. After all, that’s what Italian life is all about – great food, great wine, great company!
Matavino has a very strong awareness that -
"Terra non ci e stata lasciata in eredita dai nostri padri, ma l'abbiamo presa in prestito dai nostri figli" (the earth has not been bequeathed to us by our fathers, but borrowed from our children)
